As in other ceremonies, rituals can add depth and meaning to a baby naming ceremony. A ritual may be added at any point. There are many beautiful rituals to choose from, some involving candles, sand or flowers. You may even wish to recreate or modify a ritual that was included in a naming ceremony for your other child or children. Following are a couple of examples.
Time Capsule Ritual
The capsule can be a tin, box, jar or other receptacle.
The time capsule does not have to be buried, it is simply a treasure trove of gifts, memories, notes, postcards, wishes and predictions, which is kept, but not opened, until a specific date in the future.
It could be:
the day the child finishes high school
their 18th birthday
their 21st birthday
the day they move out of home
the day they graduate from university
any other meaningful date in the future
It will be a special moment for the child, to see all that their family and friends wrote or gave to them, on their naming day.
